COP 26
COP26 took place in the UK in November 2021, a full commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2050 is centre stage. The Race to Zero campaign highlights the urgency for climate action and increased awareness of the part we can all play.
What is net zero?
On 12 June 2019, the Government amended the Climate Change Act to introduce a target for at least a 100% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK by 2050, compared to 1990 levels.
Why does it matter for PIM?
On 20 April 2021, the Government announced the sixth Carbon Budget, setting into law the climate change target to reduce emissions by 78% by 2035 compared to 1990 levels.
Legislation for larger businesses will result in pressure being cascaded on to smaller suppliers to be greener and more sustainable, in order to improve their own green credentials and meet targets.
Policy is changing rapidly and will eventually reach small businesses – after all, small businesses make up 99.3% of the UK’s business population.
PIM intends to stay ahead of the crowd and help its customers to meet their targets while doing the right thing for the environment.
The UK's ambition for net zero can’t be realised without a concerted and coordinated effort from all of us.
